Charles Butler

 

Charles Butler attended public schools in South Carolina and earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Georgia.  Charles retired from KPMG LLP after a 37 year career.  His various roles in the firm included serving as the managing partner of the Greenville, SC office as head of the international tax team for the Southeast region and as the global lead tax partner for one of world’s largest international banks.  He is a seasoned executive with a proven track record of building and managing teams on a local and international basis, forming and nurturing long-standing relationships, understanding complex transactions and institutions, and designing and executing large scale complex projects to achieve strategic objectives.

Past and present professional/civic affiliations include the Legacy Charter School Board, Society of International Business Fellows, the International Fiscal Association, state and local Chambers of Commerce, United Way (Agency President and Board of Directors), Art Museum (Board of Directors), AICPA, Leadership Greenville, and Leadership South Carolina.

Charles’ personal interests include domestic and international travel, reading, photography, music, and motorcycle touring.  He lives with his wife Miriam in downtown Greenville and in Seneca, SC on Lake Keowee.  Charles and Miriam have two married children and one grandchild.
