GATEWAY FOR SUCCESS

LECHS’s GCS Program features Memorandums of Understanding and well-established partnerships with Greenville Technical College (GTC) and North Greenville University (NGU). Thanks to these strong partnerships with GTC and NGU, LECHS’s scholars are taking and earning full-credit college courses, including: Medical Terminology, Criminal Justice, English 101&102, Marketing, Sociology, Spanish 1&2, College Algebra, Microcomputer Applications, and Computer Science.

At the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, LECHS’s GCS Program continued to witness the successful growth of the dual credit portion of the program. In the prior 2017-2018 academic year, 48 LECHS scholars earned 223 dual credits at GTC and NGU, across 62 classes.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, 73 LECHS scholars earned 401 dual enrollment credits, across 145 classes. Importantly, LECHS’s GCS Program scholars averaged a cumulative dual credit GPA of 3.1 and passed 100% of all 145 dual credit classes taken during the 2018-2019 academic year, providing evidence that GCS Program staff continue to do an excellent job identifying which LECHS scholars are ready for the rigors of college-level work.

Scholars are placed in demanding, rigorous academic courses.

Each scholar's program of study will have a strong academic core including mathematics, science, language arts and history. Scholars also develop critical technology skills needed for research, written and oral communication tools, advanced study, and job readiness. South Carolina Academic Achievement Standards are used as a basis to develop curriculum frameworks and learning standards for each academic area.
