Inclement Weather

Legacy Early College follows the Greenville County School District schedule for a delayed opening or early closing due to weather related events.

With the onset of winter, inclement weather prevails. Snow and ice can cause school closings, delayed openings, and early dismissals. When the weather is severe, always check the radio or television stations for emergency school announcements.

Official announcements about Greenville County School System closings will be broadcast on WYFF-TV (channel 4) and Charter Cable Channels 14 or 99. You can also call the school district INFOLine at 355-3100 or go to the Greenville County School website at Decisions to close schools will be made on a daily basis by 6:00 AM each morning.

Though Legacy will post on social media if there is a school closing, it is important to follow the announcements of Greenville county and all-calls.

Two-Hour Delay:

When schools are on a two-hour delay, no breakfast will be served. Buses will run two hours later than their normal times. School will begin two hours later than the regularly scheduled time. Instead of 8:00 AM, the tardy bell will ring at 10:00 AM. Please note that scholars will not be supervised until 9:15 AM when there is a two-hour delay.

Early Dismissal:

On rare occasions, developing weather may make the early dismissal of school necessary. Should the weather become bad during school hours, you should listen to the radio or TV stations for instructions. Scholars who ride home with their parents will be supervised by adults at the school until they are picked up by their parents. Please discuss with your child in advance the procedure you will follow in getting your child home early.

Scholars and Cold Weather:

To ensure our scholars are prepared for cold weather, we would ask parents to make sure to send their scholars to school with warm clothing on cold days. On days where the temperature drops below 32 degrees, all P.E. classes will be held indoors.
