Message from the Elementary Principal

Welcome to the Legacy Lion Pride!

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2026–2027 academic year as the Elementary School Principal. For more than fifteen years, I have had the honor of serving Legacy families alongside some of the most dedicated and talented educators in South Carolina. Together, we are not just educating children, we are building a legacy that will impact generations to come.

At Legacy Early College Elementary, we believe in the power of teamwork, high expectations, and a shared vision for excellence. Our school family is united in our commitment to academic achievement, safety, social-emotional development, and daily physical fitness, all essential components of fulfilling our mission of guiding every child to and through college. By maintaining a high academic standard with 80% mastery, we are preparing our scholars to become confident, capable leaders who will positively impact their communities and the world around them.

We are equally committed to nurturing the whole child through personalized instruction, targeted interventions, and enriching opportunities that allow scholars to discover and develop their unique talents. Programs such as Future Problem Solving, music, art, STEAM, media center, and ‘Leader in Me’ leadership opportunities help our scholars grow academically, socially, and creatively while building the foundation for their future success.

We are also proud to continue being the only elementary school in South Carolina that provides physical education to every scholar, every day. We understand that healthy scholars are successful scholars, and this commitment supports both academic performance and overall well-being.

Our core value, “Scholars Before Self,” guides every decision we make and every action we take. However, building a culture of excellence and creating a lasting legacy cannot happen without the partnership of our families. Your support, involvement, and encouragement play a vital role in helping every scholar thrive.
Here are important ways you can support your child this year:

  • Ensure your child is in the school building by 8:00 a.m. each day.
  • Check that your child is wearing sneakers and is in proper uniform before leaving home.
  • Review the Purple Legacy Folder nightly for homework, important information, and communication from the teacher.
  • Maintain regular communication with your child’s teacher and school staff.
  • Encourage daily reading and positive study habits at home.

The mission of getting our scholars to and through college begins now, and together, we will make the 2026–2027 school year one of excellence, growth, and success for every Legacy Lion.

With Lion Pride Honor,
Principal Schrimmer

We must hold a high bar for our scholars in everything that they do.

The partnership between home and school is one of the most critical factors to scholar success..

We will strive to create a school atmosphere in which every scholar can find success through hard work.

Subject areas taught include: English Language Arts (English, reading, spelling, writing, and speaking), mathematics, science, social studies, health, art, music, and physical education.

Special efforts are made to meet the individual needs of our scholars through individualized instruction, small group instruction, and the use of technological devices.

Our school has clearly defined learning objectives following the South Carolina State Standards for College and Career Readiness.
